Why healthcare at HBS?
I came to HBS because I wanted to lead change in the healthcare industry. This MBA program more than anything is about creating outstanding leaders. It's an experience like nowhere else. If you want to be a mover and a shaker, you have to come to HBS. It's the size of the class, the diversity, the intensity. Everyone you want to meet comes here.
The importance of an MBA in the healthcare industry?
I think earning an MBA makes sense because healthcare should be run more like a business. It's an inescapable reality that delivery of care and innovation in healthcare is tied to financial incentives. Ignoring that reality has given us the healthcare "system" we have today. Guided by the right principles, applying business solutions to the healthcare industry will greatly benefit society.
Advice for prospective students?
Come to HBS because it's challenging, because it's uncomfortable, because you still believe you can do great things, because the healthcare industry needs change, and because this program isn't about mechanics, it isn't about what you can read in a book. This program prepares you to lead organizations that will do great things to benefit society.
