How will your MBA impact healthcare delivery?

I think we can all agree that healthcare will be delivered differently in the future than it is today. That means future challenges will likely be more complex and demand an understanding of a larger number of issues. I intend to apply my business skills toward developing innovative solutions, and hope my MBA will enable me to improve the health of more than just one patient at a time.

Why HBS for healthcare even though it doesn't have a defined "healthcare major?"

While healthcare is my focus, I wanted to make sure that I built a strong foundation in business. For my MBA training I wanted a balanced program that offered a strong offering in healthcare with great general management training. Therefore, I chose HBS because I knew that I would receive a broad foundation. I knew that I would have my whole life to spend in healthcare, but only two years to get a formal business education.

What advice would you give to prospective students with a similar educational and employment background?

What I loved about my experience at HBS was studying a really wide range of topics. The people you spend time with in and out of the classroom have diverse backgrounds. My advice would be to wholeheartedly immerse yourself in this new world. Learning by the case method takes a little getting used to, but remember, it's new for everyone!
