Idea: As technological advances in next-generation sequencing drive down the cost of sequencing whole genomes, the interpretation and communication of genetic information will become increasingly important. We aim to provide a genetic testing service for physicians interested in the molecular diagnosis of rare disorders through next-generation sequencing.
Status: We have a working prototype of the bioinformatic pipeline. Looking for business-minded partners and programmers with an interest in medicine and clinical genetics.
Skills: I am a fourth year PhD student in Systems Biology at Harvard with expertise in human genetics and bioinformatics and experience in clinical genome interpretation. You can learn more about my work here.

Idea: Anti-coagulant drugs (blood thinners) are currently managed by providers via continuous weekly lab testing/patient visits to titrate medications. This is an inefficient, labor intensive system that consumes significant human resources, and still falls short in achieving proper therapeutic control. The result is tens of thousands of hospitalizations from adverse events, and complication related healthcare costs totaling in the hundreds of millions. We hope to utilize web-based/mobile applications to enable patient self- management of anti-coagulation medication.
Status: We are a small team of graduate students in medicine and computer science who are in the process of developing a prototype. We are looking for business/legal minded partners who will be motivated to bring out product to business fruition, and, ultimately, into the hands of patients who need them most.
Skills: We already have the medical expertise, application building experience, and relevant academic connections within the Partner's healthcare system to build and validate a prototype of our application.

Idea: OpenTable is currently market leader and google of online restaurant reservation. But still only 15% of diners use open table to make reservation. Many of the diners still prefer to walk in and not make any reservations ahead of time. We have a strong business opportunity for this target audience that can be worth $30-50 milion.
Status: We are in Business Plan development Stage, and seeking to form the founding team. We are looking for a) Engineers who have experience/interest in building Ipad/Iphone/Android compliant highly scalable websites and apps. b) Marketing/Sales people who have worked in the Food and Services industry and can possibly help in business development c) Finance majors/experts who can help handle company finances. As we are from outside HBS we seek to have at-least one Harvard student to be part of this team.

Idea: Dessertly.com is quite simply, an online marketplace and community centered around desserts. Think Etsy.com...only for desserts. The platform consists of ecommerce and some social networking aspects. Dessertly is based out of St. Petersburg Florida.
Status: We have a rough draft of the business plan in place, a very rough mock-up and some wireframes. We are seeking somebody with a diverse knowledge in front-end design, web development, and database administration. We have two web developers (myself included) and a head of business affairs. We need to assemble a board of advisors and an executive board.

Idea: At Eartop Technologies, we are in the midst of developing and designing a revolutionary new product which utilizes new Bluetooth 4.0 technology to turn virtually anything with specific female inputs wireless. By using the optimized battery performance, and enhanced data transfer rates of Bluetooth 4.0, we are developing a technology which would be sleek, small, and compact.
Status: Currently, we are in the prototype design and manufacturing stage of the start-up and I am looking for people with: a) web development skills b) a background in the audio-tech industry/ the way new audio tech equipment is designed and implemented c) a background in disruptive marketing and pushing progressive branding campaigns. We have a team of engineers currently developing the finalized designs for the product, and will hopefully have an Alpha Prototype in the next few weeks to come.
Skills: I am majoring in entrepreneurship at Babson College, and I have over 12months experience as the lead reasearch analyst and project manager at the largest industrial transformer manufacturing company in North America (Pennsylvania Transformer Technologies Inc.). I understand the market dynamics of the tech-industry, and have a variety of skills relating to an Operational Background. I have built a strong network, and I currently have contacts with Sony and other catalyst companies. I am a member of the most prestigious entrepreneurial organization at Babson College, E-tower, which currently houses two Top 25 under 25 (BusinessWeek) entrepreneurs (www.etower.org). Idea: To visualize financial statements, financial data, and other interactive & real time financial data. The idea stemmed from my evaluation of a company's stock value. Many investors who don't have professional skills in accounting and finance could understand companies' financial structure at a glance by using our model. It helps investors and analysts to evaluate securities, assets and information. We would like to create both websites and applications for this visualization tools and models.
Status: So far, only one of my former classmate and I are working on it. We have written down one research paper for this proposed model. The problem for us are our lacks of programming skills to make this model functional as both of us have accounting & finance background. We need to build up a team that has the passions and skills in integrating technology and business.
Skills: I'm an international student, currently having my master study in finance at Fisher College of Business, The Ohio State University. We had experience founding a company (Venteura, Inc) that models a virtual financial market in which we had raised around $150k from angel investors. We want to set up a company for doing the visualization of financials; and we are seeking co-founders that have passions, skills in technology, and are ready for challenges.

Idea: Have you ever had a moment where you're watching a video and there's a product that you just must have, but the task of finding out what it is and where to order it from and then having to order the actual product is hideous and time-consuming. Well we are working on making it as simple as pausing the video, hovering over the product of your choice, which will then display more information about the product with the option to buy.

Idea: China's facing growing power shortages in recent years due to the growing demand resulted from urbanization effort. Recent Reuter report estimated that China's electricity deficit would reach 50GW in 2012. 26 out of 38 provinces in China are forced to ration electricity usage during summer. businesses have to shutdown operations 3 days per week to maintain the reliability of electric grid. financial loss for businesses and utilities are in billions of dollar. Working with Chinese leading power experts and support from Chinese local municipal governments, we are developing a cost-effective IT-based energy management solution for China's utilities customer as well as end user to balance electricity supply and demand in order to minimize the power shortages.
Status: demonstrated a proof-of-concept to shanghai local municipal government and local utilities, received positive feedback. currently developing the application and prototype for two of potential pilot projects in Shanghai and Zhejiang province.
Skills: looking for an individual (or co-founder if really passionate about making a difference in china's power industry) to help in strategy planning and business model analysis for China's power market, and to lead the commercialization of our solution. prior experience in IT or power industry would be helpful.

EducateNCare is a socially responsible online education start-up that focuses on developing an open online marketplace of live educational classes where teachers and students around the globe are able to learn and teach online using our online virtual whiteboard and marketplace. Being a triple bottom line start-up, we are also a certified Benefit Corporation and hence a portion of the profit generated from the marketplace goes towards educating children in underprivileged communities around the world. Our platform is also used by college students as an online volunteering platform where they donate their earnings to their favorite nonprofit of choice.
Status: The prototype of the product has already been built and we are launching it very soon.

It is a screening tool that filters out the wrong candidates during the initial stages of application, saving hirers the time and money that is usually wasted on unsuitable candidates. The website is an innovative tool that mitigates the wrong decisions made by hirers that can ultimately cost a company more than cost of hiring the individual. The network is designed to find companies the best quality applicants that will contribute most effectively and fit into the corporate culture.
Status: I am currently in the implementation stage of the start-up and I am looking for people with: a) web development skills b) a background in psychology. I have developed the algorithm for matching, I have the user interface design document and I am currently in the process of completing the technical document and negotiating licensing to the testing platforms.
Skills: I am majoring in entrepreneurship, I have had 18months experience as a business development manager and project manager for an international media company. I understand usability and functionality within a website and I am able to communicate technical problems. I am a strong networker, and I have contacts in a number or diverse industries. I am a member of e-tower, an organisation that houses the most active entrepreneurs at Babson College (www.etower.org). Idea: My idea is in the field of EDUCATION ENTREPRENEURSHIP. I wish to create an alternate certification program and professional development organization that will focus on recruitment, selection, training, and support of teachers in order to improve the quality of the profession by focusing on a teacher's EQ- emotional intelligence, in addition to IQ. In most teacher preparation programs today, teachers are trained as instructors but are put in the position of being social workers, psychologists, parents, and mentors every day. Because of their lack of preparation for the social and emotional challenges that come with the job, I believe that teachers burn out at exorbitant rates and a huge amount of money is wasted on the revolving door of teacher training and attrition. By preparing teachers for the interpersonal aspects of the job with exposure to concepts commonly found in the fields of psychology, social neuroscience, and counseling, as well as a more process oriented approach to training that will includes personal development through group therapy, teachers will be better prepared to leverage the power of human relationships in the classroom to improve student outcomes.
Status: The status of this project is still in the idea stage, although I have many resources and contacts that would enable this idea to be scaled. I am passionate, articulate, a connector, knowledgeable in the diverse fields mentioned here, and willing to work extremely hard to make this a reality and to transform the face of American education via teacher quality.

Idea: My idea is to reduce electromagnetic radiation produced by current mobile phones and other devices. I am a radio engineer with a long experience and I know that the problem existed is based on the fact of small device size compared to wave length and inner located antennas. With my product, manufactured with 10 cents and sold with 8$, the electromagnetic radiation can be reduced 20-50 % depending on the phone type. It is not seen in the market so far. Shielding characteristics should be connected with toy properties, and children are the target group.

Status: We currently own the websites listed above and control the use of the vanity phone number 1-800-Holistic. We have at our disposal affiliation with a company within the internet telephony community that has the ability to parse the 800-Holistic number to accommodate virtually any level of service our business model eventually takes us, with the ability to synergistically coordinate with our website applications.
Skills: The current partners, Mr. Hanson and Mr. Markowitz, have been in the business arena for over 30 years engaged in numerous entrepreneurial endeavors. Mr. Markowitz is a practicing Holistic Health Practitioner and holds over 60 Degrees within various disciplines. Mr. Hanson has been engaged in sales and marketing for over 30 years with experience in commercial/industrial sales, automotive, real estate, financing and web-based businesses.

Idea: I want to build a portal that allows people to search for events in their locality. Events shouldn't be really big as some concert . But people who are new in some place looking forward to just hanging out with like minded people can search for common likes and dislikes, . For example I want to go skiing but I can't find any one , so this portal will help them in finding a suitable friend.Because this a major problem when you go to a country where language is a barrier. This will help them in dissolving that barrier as well. Am looking forward to expanding this idea in different directions. This will be totally different from Facebook.

So I need someone who is dedicated and creative so that we can convert it into reality.Possibly with a knowledge of web page building.
