How do we define success?
Chertavian on success

Success for me is about a report card. And my report card is looking at yourself once a year, and saying, "Grade yourself as a husband, as a father, as a community member, as a family member, and as a business person."
So I've given myself those grades now for a number of years, and I can tell you the times in my life when I got Cs and Ds in everything except business. So that's not a success. If you're looking at the balanced scorecard of life, you may be doing great in business, but the reality is, that's not success.
So I think it's defining for one's self: what is important? The relationship with my children, my wife, my family, my role as someone who's fortunate to think about the community. You have good fortune if you get to think about the community. It means you're doing okay yourself. And then also your role as a business person. That's one of five grades. I think the myopia of looking at just one grade, and that being business, and how we measure business—which is often in money—is a very, very limited definition of success in this world.
