Everyone defines success in a different way.
I define success in terms of making a difference. So, for example, when I reflect back at Staples, well, you can look at revenues and employees and shareholder value and some of those more mundane characteristics. I think the biggest difference Staples made, it made it easier for a small business or a self-employed individual to do business, or easier to run a home office. I founded Staples because I had great difficulty buying things for my home office at any price on convenient hours, let alone at good prices.
Staples today lets people take that for granted. That's making a difference.
