The committee noted that Caterpillar's classrooms—which featured seats "arced across the diagonal of a square room"—would require "considerable alteration" to be made useful to HBS. But two features of those rooms looked interesting. The first was the continuous desk tops that made up the "arcs." The second was a feature that soon became an iconic feature of the HBS classroom. "Of particular interest in this photograph," noted the committee in one caption, "are the individual name plates."
