Transformational Education > A new way of teaching
Sinking into psyches
"The case method requires some explanation," Fran Worden Henry wrote. "It isn't just the cases that are important to the method's success as an educational way of life, it's the way they are taught. Each faculty member has an agenda with each case that is presented. His agenda includes communicating one or two key concepts, which are drawn out in the class discussion and which sink in to students' psyches after they've had a chance to think about them for a while.
"Some say that a concept like push vs. pull in Marketing would be better taught by an instructor who lectured about it, giving examples and a summary at the close of the class. But educators at Harvard believe otherwise, and the case method provides the example."
